Let’s face it: the coronavirus hits all of us hard. The entire travel industry is directly impacted by the current situation and this also includes you as one of our wonderful Originals tour guides, aka our heroes on the ground.
Believe us, if we had a magic wand there’s nothing else we would wish more than for things to get back to normal. However, we have to face the circumstances we are in at the moment and try to make the most out of it.

At GetYourGuide, we are optimistic that travel will return and we want to use this time in between to get ready for it. One initiative which is close to our heart is to be more present with you, our Originals guides, and to build a community for us to share ideas, experiences and learnings.
Our guide webinars have been the first step for this and we are very excited to introduce our next project: this guide newsletter which you will receive bi-weekly going forward. There is also a blog for you to find all the content we’re sharing with you.
With no further ado, let’s get started with our first topic: 4 tips for you during the downtime.
Keep Training Your Voice
Ugh hands up if you lost your voice when starting as a tour guide. It happens to many…so keep training the muscles of your voice. Additional plus: you can do it at home, so get experimental and crazy, no one will hear you anyway.
Stay on Top of Things in The Travel Industry
Yeah, I hear you, being constantly surrounded by news can be frustrating. However, the Skift newsletter will keep you up to date about everything you need to know in the travel industry. Worth signing up to!
Watch Travel Documentaries on Netflix
Bring back your inner wanderlust! Grab the popcorn, get comfy on the couch and enjoy some travel documentaries on Netflix such as 180° South or Magical Andes.
Hear from the Originals Guides Community
Give a big shoutout to Marcel, one of our amazing Original guide, who was invited by Condé Nast Traveler to share ’13 Things You Didn’t Know About the Louvre’. Mindblowing!
